Feel your body thrum as millions of litres of water crash down the mighty Zambezi at Mosi -oa-Tunya -
Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, one of earth's greatest spectacles and a World Heritage site. Hop into a canoe and take a leisurely drift down the Zambesi. Spend a week sleeping in luxurious bush camps all the way downstream to striking Mpata Gorge in Zambia and while you're at it, try white river rafting or bunji jumping off a bridge. Join the Lozi people in celebrating Kuomboka, the joyous ceremonial journey of the Lozi King from his summer capital in the flood plains to his winter residence on higher ground.

Unwind on long honey-coloured dune-fringed beaches in breathtaking Mozambique with its warm turquoise waters and go diving amidst shoals of exotic fish and well-preserved corals. Find yourself swept up in the colourful culture and celebratory ceremonies in the Kingdom of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland). Get an insight into this compelling culture at the annual Umhlanga (reed dance) festival where thousands of women travel from all over eSwatini to converge on the royal village to cut reeds for the annual repair of the queen mother's village.

Push out past swaying papyrus reeds into Botswana's lush Okavango Delta in a dugout canoe. Elemental and extraordinary, and one of the largest wetland wildernesses in the world, Okavango Delta plays host to hundreds of thousands of wildlife and bird species between July and September. Silently glide past herds of elephants, hippos and crocodiles going about their day, while on land rhinos watch closely as lions prey on unsuspecting zebra and the wild dissonant whoop of the hyena lends an eerie surreal tone to the day.

Marvel as you take in the strange stark beauty of the Namib, the oldest desert in the world, where blackened petrified trees in Dead Vlei lend an otherworldly feel to the salt clay pans of Sossusvlei, and giant sand dunes plunge hundreds of meters to meet the shipwreck-littered Skeleton Coast along the Atlantic Ocean. Hike the mighty Fish River Canyon or track endangered black rhinos, elephants and an abundance of other wildlife on foot in Etosha National Park or the Damaraland desert where the nomadic Himba people still roam with their livestock. A land of jaw-dropping scenery, Namibia is both unimaginable and endless in its bounty and travellers are spoilt for choice.
